Feeling fruity!

Hey guys, hooray for Friday and all. I was up super early this morning to try to get some Olympic tickets (didn’t get any the first time round). I got a confirmation code, so am keeping my fingers crossed. Anyone else tried this time around?

Anyway, first up, last night was the new body pump. I was not that excited by the music- one track was “Sweet child of mine” which I know will get on my nerves as I am not a fan of it. There was a Pink song (I think? Something about raising your glass- is that Pink?), but nothing that I was excited for right away. Anyway, it was good- hard work (the lunges have a load of squats in there too, and you do the hover at the end with feet on the step- crazy I have never done that before), but I am getting more and more stiff today!

Fruity stuff!

I have been using stuff from the freezer (I love to buy bags of frozen blueberries, raspberries, cherries, blackberries, plus I freeze bananas once they go a bit brown, so there is a lot of fruit in there that needs eating), so here are some pics from the last few days:

Frozen raspberries (80g) whizzed up with a pot of chocolate alpro. Yummylicious. Seriously if you have not tried this, the do. Frozen raspberries on their own once whizzed up go like sorbet, but the chocolate and raspberry combo is amazing. But any thing would do – I have done it with yoghurt and stuff too.

Banana mashed with cocoa and tsp peanut butter, topped with a pear (great post body pump snackage).

Porridge with blueberries- I love how purple it goes πŸ™‚

Blueberry porridge in pb jar. It was really pretty-purple and peanut stripes, but it did not come out.

So what would you do with frozen fruit? Smoothies? Add to muffins? (I love frozen blueberries in muffins). Other???

I am also excited as I haveΒ receivedΒ a couple of packages;

Some lovely Righteous salad dressing (the raspberry and sweet basil looks so good, and it is fruity you see, so it fits). I am so excited to try these!

And some lovely coconut water! It is supposed to be hot this weekend so I shall need it πŸ™‚

I am also so excited because for the first time in so long (seriously I cannot remember the last time) I do not have any work to do at the weekend!!!!!!! I am so excited!!!!!! What on earth will I do with my Saturday afternoon? Well, I am hoping to have a run in the morning, and then maybe sit in the garden in the afternoon! And maybe some baking for Sunday of course. Big plans I know! πŸ™‚

So, any plans for tomorrow/ the weekend?

  1. I LOVE frozen blueberries (and nanners) in smoothies! And I also thaw them to add to pancakes, oats, oat bran, cereal, etc πŸ™‚ Love love love fruit!

  2. I’m quite limited with my frozen fruit usage: it’s always either blended in smoothies or stirred into oats/overnight oats. I love frozen cherries though: they have to be the ultimate for me, particularly when combined with chocolate flavours.

Bummer about the new Body Pump by the sounds of it…I’m no Guns N Roses fan either and is it just me or is there ALWAYS a bloomin’ Pink song? I miss ye olde chest track that was Metallica’s Enter Sandman (this was years and years ago when BP was first introduced). We need more metal for lifting ze weights, or at least I do. What’s the back track like? I want to go back to the good old days of 15kg but I’ve been stuck at 12.5 all this release with that darn power press.

Great that you finally get to have a break this week-end: I forget that teachers get so little ‘true’ time off!

    xxx

    1. The back track has 4 clean and presses in a row, but you get to drop the bar (not like the 3 up and down in a row) so I bet you could go heavier. I went a bit heavier this time and it was fine.
Yeah they seem to love pink! I like the rocking stuff, or the totally cheesy stuff (I did love the triceps track and I am no Enrique fan!) πŸ™‚

  3. Mmmm, I’m loving summer fruit at the moment, my freezer is full of bags of frozen berries too! πŸ™‚ My favourites things to do with it are smoothies and blended puddings with yoghurt…just need the weather to catch up with my desire for cold foods!!

A free weekend sounds great, enjoy it! We’re meant to be going to a family day out tomorrow afternoon – bouncy castles, face painting, BBQ, cakes etc – all free! It’s run by the church/old ladies that run the toddler group I go to, but it’s open to the whole town. Last year they kept pushing more & more cake onto Liam as the weather was so sunny that not enough people were eating it! I’m hoping the weather decides to cheer up for it this year too!
Sunday, we’re off to a BBQ at Liam’s Auntie’s house…but as, upon hearing that I don’t eat meat, she declared that her idea of a BBQ was slabs of meat and I’d have to provide my own food, I’m not overly looking forward to it!! Last year she did loads of nice salads etc so it’s more her attitude than lack of food that bothers me!

Your packages look great…the salad dressings in particular look intriguing – I’ve never heard of them so off to explore their website now!

    Have a great weekend πŸ™‚

    1. Also your weekend sounds fab- bouncy castles and face painting sounds fun!
That is a bit of a funny attitude from Liam’s Auntie too- I do not like to be awkward and will always offer to bring something, but as a BBQ I could always eat some bread and a salad and I would not mind that at all! Ah well have fun

  4. Too bad you didn’t get pumped with Body Pump’s music last night. I know it helps a ton when I actually like the songs I’m working out to..esepciually with Body Pump! I usually catch myself singing along sometimes which helps the “Omg my muscles hurrrrttt” thoughts out of my head. πŸ˜›

    1. I am sure once I get to know it I will like it, but yeah you are right you do get a boost from the music.

  5. I have yet another farewell tomorrow, mates jumping ship heading off to Australia. Bar that I’m going to try get my eating back on track – I’ve been baking this week for the kids fete and I’m pretty sure I’ve consumed more than I took in this morning πŸ˜‰
    Enjoy your relaxing time.

  6. I love the way blueberries turn porridge / milk purple! I also love making smoothies with frozen fruit, as it makes them a bit thicker — a bit like slush puppies.

Shame about the bodypump music — I think soundtracks to workouts are really important! Maybe it’ll grow on you though.

Fingers crossed for the olympics tickets too πŸ™‚

  7. I love that banana-cocoa-pear snack – it is a combination of my very favourite things!!
I love to add frozen fruits to smoothies, salads, overnight oats or I blend them and just “snack” on them πŸ™‚

    1. Well it is super easy to make (and thanks to Jemma at Celery and cupcakes who invented it). πŸ™‚
