More festivities

Evening all

I am sure by now everyone has their Christmas decorations up. Well, we are not allowed ours up as Andy thinks it might be bad luck? (Last year we were meant to go away but the plane got snowed on– we bought a little Christmas tree for the weeks before we went away- so it makes sense that if we don’t get one then we won’t have to stay and use it, right?).

But it does not mean I cannot be festive! The Christmas Fayre at school today was just lovely- (I even wore my Old Navy happy holidays top!)

Happy Holidays 2008!

and really put me in even more of a festive mood. Pumpkin gingerbread pancakes were a good festive breakfast too.

They never look good in my photos but trust me it was all about the taste!

On the way home I popped to Starbucks (2 actually!) but not for a chai latte (didn’t think it would be good pre-run fuel)- Β in their 2 days of Christmas offers mugs were half price. I saw a lovely one a while back so decided to hunt it down. I could not resist a cinnamon roll either!

We shared one this afternoon with some Teapigs chai. Mmmmm.

I got home at about 1pm, and got ready for my run. I went out and did 8.5ish miles (my regular route)- I did consider 10 but I was so hungry (and cold- the wind was cold) so headed home. It was about 3 by the time I got home and I was starving! Not surprised seeing as my breakfast was at about 9am!

I had a go at a vegan Christmas cake this afternoon- from Vegetarian magazine although I made a few changes.

It will look better once it is covered in marzipan πŸ™‚ Tomorrow I am going on a Christmas cupcake decorating course so I am hoping to have some good ideas for how to decorate the cakes. Other than that I have been relaxing- I had a busy week and somehow did 4 runs (Saturday- 4, Sunday- 8, Monday-5, Wednesday 4) plus aerobics and pump, and normally I would have had another rest day. I was meant to be going out to dinner after work yesterday, but I left work late (super busy) and had such an awful headache- my eyes were hurting as I was driving home looking at all the headlights, so I skipped that in favour of an evening on the sofa!

I might even write our Christmas cards later.

Are your decorations up yet?

Are you after anything in the Starbucks sale? And also, does anyone have one of the Starbucks cards? They seem really good- surely there must be drawbacks??

  1. oh my goodness, i have a strict rule NOT to purchase merchandise from starbucks! when i joined corporate america in 2003, i bought every mug that they released for two years straight. i have an actual starbucks cupboard. that’s after donating half of the collection last year! ha! i’m curious to know of what you’ll be buying! i prefer bone china nowadays, and starbucks mugs are too thick for my liking although i did spot a sparkle thermos wrap-around that was very pretty. i have the starbucks app on my mobile, so i load all of my gift cards to that (cards that i purchase from the grocery to earn fuel perks) . . . and then i also earn points with starbucks through each purchase! i’m a huge starbucks girl (for the pomegranate cashews, not for the coffee, but i do love their coffee on sunday, it’s a weird craving). i hope that you enjoyed this dissertation on starbucks. πŸ™‚ x

  2. I have a Starbucks card and it’s definitely worth it because you get free soy milk (saves you 35p each time), free shots of syrup (again about 35p) and you also get free wifi in their stores too. It was a godsend when I used to go to the one in Covent Garden every night after work to write my book and wait for my husband to finish work. Every now and then you get an email saying “free coffee today” as well!

  3. Decorations are only going up in our house once hubby has left for Kili which is next Sunday (he’s not one to get involved anyway).
Well done on a fab run today πŸ™‚

  4. Wow, what’s that on top of your pancakes, it looks delicious, whatever it is!
Glad the fair went well and you’re so organised for Christmas! Everything crossed for you this time for the holiday, after last year’s horrible experience x

  5. Eleanor- it is whole earth chocolate caramel swirl spread- amazing on warm pancakes πŸ™‚
Phil- thanks for that- I will be signing up I think πŸ™‚ Seeing as I only just realised you pay more for soya milk.
Nicole- love the dissertation πŸ™‚ We have 4 mug trees that are full but Andy says we are having a mug cull soon- I love them for souvenirs too but am quite particular about the size. And I prefer the thicker china to bone china πŸ™‚

  6. I like Starbucks drinks, but back home, there’s not one near me (about 30 minutes away) so I never got into getting things there or anything!

  7. Shaman- I have that idea too, but then I also like to enjoy them and it makes getting up for work not so bad when I can put the night lights on while I eat breakfast.

  8. Me neither Laura until I saw it on the website when I was finding the link to do the post about! But you have to pick one up in store and activate it on-line- I tried to sign up online but I can’t.
