Tea problem

I have heard that the first step to recovery is to admit you have a problem.

Well, I have a problem. Now, I did actually admit this a long time ago in my hoarding post. This was way back in June of last year, and I think since admitting it my problem has got worse.

The problem is buying more and more flavours of tea.

The trouble is, since that post, I have discovered that I love even more types of tea.

These are the new additions to my tea family (Clipper Earl Grey, Apple and Ginger, Coconut and Orange, Twinnings peppermint and Green tea with lemon, Celestial Apple and Cinnamon, and Bengal Spice, Cinnamon and Licorice, Spiced rooibos, Caffeine free chocolate, Rooibos with strawberry and raspberry, rooibos with orange and cinnamon…). I think I am just going to embrace it and not try to fight it any more.

The thing is, I don’t have “normal” (black) tea very much any more. I had cut it out completely while I had the cyst still because caffeine made it uncomfortable, but even before then I only had one cup per day anyway. And I like variety. At the moment I have a bit of a “tea routine”. Mint for breakfast, Earl Grey for lunch, rooibos in the afternoon (or something in my teapot using loose leaf tea), ginger after dinner, and then licorice in the evening.  Although my routine changes all the time- I have even had some iced tea when it has been hot.

So please enjoy some pictures of tea. I wish I could make it play the music from the Hart Beat art show. So just sing it in your head.

Earl grey with a (delicious) peanut butter pretzel bar.

Loose leaf mint tea in my little teapot alongside a (burnt) teacake and pear. I love my little teapot.

Cinnamon Apple tea with an apple nut loaf.

Mint tea and carrot cake from Brighton. (That is where I bought the loose leaf mint tea from as it was amazing).

Licorice and cinnamon tea.

Iced lemon green tea.

I am actually more surprised when I don’t buy more tea at the moment 🙂

I got an email from Twinings the other day saying that they are going to be bringing out loose-leaf teas for the Jubilee! How exciting! And sent a very pretty picture of some tea:

Loose tea

I think you will agree it is much nicer than my pictures!

And (hint hint) of course there is always more room in my tea cupboard for new types of tea, or of course teapots! 🙂

Are you a tea fan? If so, which flavours do you particularly like? I think if it has the word “cinnamon” somewhere on the packet then I am sold right away!

What do you hoard away in your cupboards?

PS- I am going to make a loaf cake later on- any guesses for the secret ingredient 😉

  1. My drawer at work is full of tea and my cupboards at home are even worse, probably because my housemate hoards tea too! My favourites are peppermint and rooibos. I always feel much better after a big mug of peppermint tea.

    1. Yes I love peppermint tea- my breakfast tea at the moment, but once I go back to work I won’t have time so it will be back to the evenings I think. 🙂

  2. The ice tea looks lovely. Silly question but did you just make it as usual and leave to cool? I can’t stand green tea when it goes bitter but if I can turn it into iced tea with some lemon I may learn to love it!

    1. Yes- I put the teabag in a cup and topped with maybe an inch of boiling water, and left the teabag in for about a minute (it does not need long). Then I took out the teabag and topped it up with cold water and then put in the fridge. Then I poured it into a glass a bit later, and added ice and the lemon. It was a green tea with lemon teabag, but I think adding a few lemon slices to a normal bag would be similar.

  3. I love tea, although I have never drunk the black variety. I like green tea in the mornings, ginger or licorice after meals and peppermint in the evening. I love the teapigs christmas flavour tea as a treat too!

    1. Yes their Christmas tea is lovely and spiced. I only ever used to drink black tea, and only in the last couple of years have started having other types.

    1. It was a present from the Christmas blog secret santa this year- Jemma from Celery and Cupcakes gave me presents and I think she had just been to NYC (or somewhere in the USA) so bought a few things out there.
Although I just found them on i-herb so might have to order some- it was goooood!

  4. I hoard teas and nut butters! I love that you have a tea routine, I kind of have one too although it changes from week to week. At the moment I’m loving the twinnings earl grey and green blend with breakfast, peppermint after lunch, liquorice after dinner and plain green tea during the day. Gotta love tea!

  5. Oh Maria, I am most definitely a tea addict! Yogi and Pukka tea are my faves, in particular anything with licorice, cinnamon or chai in it! This post has just reminded me I need to restock my cupboards with some very soon 🙂

    1. Yes chai is one of my magic words- and licorice, and cinnamon- snap! I just tried the pukka licorice and cinnamon and it is lovely- I cannot believe I have not tried it sooner!

  6. I love your mugs, and teapot – and the way you talk about your tea “habit”!
The new ones look great, especially the gunpowder one… I’m quite conservative when it comes to tea; I like builder’s, although I drink a black/green blend at home and I’ve been loving green lately. I did like the Yogi Aztec one but sadly, all those have gluten in them, as I found out afterwards 🙁

  7. That Pukka Herbs licorice and cinnamon tea is my absolute favourite! I have it every day at work and often drink their ginger tea in the evenings. Yummy!

    1. Yes it is so lovely- but still people think the licorice means like the aniseed flavour of the black sticks, and not a sweetener.
