Hey peeps,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Sunday morning started off for me with a trip to the allotment:
It was super weedy! We let the grass grow on the paths between the beds, but the weeds were not paying attention to my rules. Anyway, about an hour and a half later, I was very satisfied with how it was looking:
Much better!
My Dad planted those leeks for me a few weeks back, so that bit only needed a teeny bit of weeding. I also managed to pick some raspberries π I am amazed they are still going strong.
I spent a bit of time envying the plot next to mine:
Amazing pumpkins- they are massive and there are loads! My pumpkin plant still only has teeny flowers on it- no chance of one this year.
After that I was in need of breakfast!
After some work, Andy and I popped into town as we needed to get a few bits- we also popped to Starbucks π He tried a pumpkin latte (and made me try a bit even though I don’t like coffee- the coffee taste overwhelmed anything else, but Andy quite liked it)- I had the usual chai tea latte- sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg. I heard someone order a vanilla chai tea latte, so I am sure I will be able to ask for the pumpkin syrup with that- has anyone done that before?
I also went into Waitrose, and picked up a copy of the Love Life magazine.
I have bought it a few times and it is OK, but I saw a sign saying it was free with a My Waitrose card (I was persuaded to have one a while back, but usually you get 1p off each shop!)- anyway, inside was a little Almond Breeze booklet, plus vouchers for free plain and chocolate almond milk! Result!
As it has been getting colder I have been having porridge (with almond milk or coconut milk)- this week was with pumpkinΒ purΓ©eΒ molasses, spices and sometimes a nectarine too. Nice and warming π It is so dark in the mornings now- pitch black outside when I have my breakfast π
Then, when I got home from work today, I had this on the door mat! Less than 2 weeks til the next half marathon! Β It spurred me on for my 3 miler- managed 3.1 in 31 mins, so keeping up the speed π
What are you excited about right now? Anyone tried the pumpkin latte (without coffee?)?
I can’t wait to try the new variations of coffees – like I was saying on facebook the salted caramel sounds incredible! They also do a chocolate version of it with no coffee! I am most certainly excited about that π
When we were in London to watch the ladies marathon an American lady asked for a salted caramel hot chocolate, and was very annoyed when they said they didn’t do it! Perhaps they will now they have the syrup for it!
I hate the dark mornings too, it isn’t quite pitch black when I’m having my breakfast but nearly! I very nearly entered the Oxford Half so I’ll be looking forward to your race report. Decided against it though and am doing the Liverpool Half in March instead.
Hope your training is going well for Liverpool- lots of sights to see I would think.
Sounds like a productive day! Yay for two weeks til the next half… I’m excited for you!
I always get my chai tea latte with vanilla, so I can imagine you could have any syrup you want. Sometimes I think about peppermint π
I never really knew you could do that! I think I will have to try it sometime π
Pumpkin Latte is beautiful. I can see why so many people love it. I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to order a pumpkin shot chai latte … you hear people asking for alsorts of stuff and they always make them! Next on my list is definitely the salted caramel mocha…I’m a mocha fan and nothing beats salted caramel so…methinks it’ll be a good one! π
Your allotment looks really great! π
Thanks about the allotment- it was a lot of digging (but nice weather for it)- a satisfying thing because when I finished I could see how much I had accomplished.
I used to get vanilla chai latte all the time, but now just get plain chai as it was a bit sweet. I’m planning to have a salted caramel mocha on Thursday, can’t wait! π
I need to get back into eating porridge for breakfast, maybe start making it up the night before again like I used to so I can’t use the “no time” excuse! Yours looks delicious, love the idea of nectarine with the pumpkin π
How did I not know you could do that? I have never seen on the menu that you can add syrups, but I suppose they are on there with a price so no reason not to add them. I think you get them free with the card too.
I make my porridge the night before because I don’t like being too rushed in the morning, plus the oats soak up the milk overnight so I think it is nicer.
I was excited today with Hazelnut milk in my coffee; it didn’t froth but the taste was yummy like someone had put a flavoured syrup into the coffee mmmm, it was just the ticket for me today.
Yum- I love that hazelnut milk but because of the strong flavour I don’t have it as much as almond milk. It makes a lovely hot chocolate, but yes won’t go frothy- soya milk is the best for froth I think.
I love the unsweetened almond milk, it’s my favourite dairy free one! Great that you got them for free! I’ve been loving pumpkin oats lately. I’m excited about doing my last hard week of marathon training!!
Yes it is my fave one too- no idea why they need a sweetened one as it does not taste “savoury” or anything.
I am excited to read your marathon report π
Your porridge sounds delicious!
Those pumpkins look fab! I’m sure that yours will be giving them some competition soon! π
I’m so jealous of your allotment – I would love to grow my own veggies!
I’m very boring when it comes to coffee – I like it plain without any syrups. I can’t even imagine what pumpkin syrup would taste like …
Well I am jealous of the allotments next to mine! π I am hoping next year will be better, although we have had some good things- onions, leeks and some fruit. I have some celery plants growing but I am not sure when I can pick it- it is only about 1cm thick!
I think the pumpkin spice syrup is meant to be a bit creamy (like the custardy part of the pie) with nutmeg and spices? But I don’t know.
