Last week I was kindly sent some new nakd bars for me to try for the blog.
I had already tried the Christmas Pud bar (Sainsbury’s stock them- I have found them in two so far), and although I liked it (fruit and spices are a good combo), it was not my favourite. I told Andy I thought I could taste the alcohol (he thinks I am ridiculous, but I did think that the hint of natural flavour was hinting at the alcoholic Β pudding).
But, the Bakewell tart ones, well, they might be my new favourite flavour. As someone who can happily cut a slice from a block of marzipan, I am rather fond of that almond extract flavour, and this bar has it. I thought it had dried cherries in there too, but it didn’t. I mean, I could go on for ages about the wonderful natural ingredients of dates, nuts, raisins and natural flavour, and how they survive a week being squashed in the bottom of my bag, and how they are the perfect snack size etc etc. But I am sure you all know how much I love them already, so I won’t.
Anyway, I loved it so much that I ordered a case on their website (they were having 20% off, although when I checked it had changed to a multi buy offer). I also bought a mixed box of Trek and nakd crunch bars, and they included a couple of freebies.
I tried the cocoa chaos bar- tasty. Although it made me think of Professor Chaos. Just me?
Do you like the sound of the new bars? I am thinking of wrapping one Christmas pud bar in marzipan to make a Christmas cake bar. Good plan.
* I was sent the bars to try, but all opinions are my own.
I was so excited when they announced these two new flavours. I couldn’t taste any hint of alcohol in the Xmas Pudding bars personally, but I have a terrible cold at the moment so my sense of taste is a bit off to start with. The packaging for Trek bars has been given a jazzy new makeover by the looks of it – they look amazing! I love my Nakd bars and I’m so happy to enjoy them again now that I’m not a slave to the low-carb nonsense I was following so long ago. Nakd bars are the best pre-race fuel for me and I wish I had never deviated from that.
Oh, and wrapping one in marzipan is absolutely inspired. They need to look at marketing that idea π
xxx
I should try them for pre race – I used to eat one on my super long marathon training runs so they must have sat well in my stomach
I didn’t know they were doing these flavours? I am going to have to stock up on them, as the chocolate-orange one is currently my favourite snack.
Their website is always good for deals π I love the cocoa mint one.
I can’t find the bakewell one anywhere, I need to get my hands on it, it sounds so good!
I have only seen them on the website.
Although I love the smell of Christmas pudding I’m not a fan of the flavour so I haven’t tried these bars, despite seeing them out and about a couple of times just recently. I love the sound of the Bakewell bars though as I could also eat marzipan by the block but the only places I have spotted them has been on blogs/Instagram! π
I have only seen the bakewell ones on their website.
I haven’t tried the new flavours but they sond delicious. I’m a big fan of marzipan too so I’m sure I’d enjoy it. I don’t tend to buy a lot of these snack bars as at work I tend to snack on just plain nuts, but I loved the nakd “bits” bags when I had them. They were so moreish I had to count out a handful and the quickly put the bag away before I ate the lot. Love the ingredients!
I like that they survive being in my bag and are portion sized.
I just had the Xmas one yesterday! It’s so good! Still doesn’t replace my fave, the good old cashew one but fun for a treat! Nakd bars are the best π
The cocoa mint is up there for me π
I just found your blog through Danni @ Hungry Healthy Happy and I’m so glad I did. We are both vegetarian runners who love cupcakes!
Thanks for leaving a comment.
Ooh these sound delicious! Especially that marzipan flavour, yum!
Yes the bakewell one is really good π
I love nakd bars! I still haven’t tried all the flavours yet. The Bakewell tart sounds delicious. Need to get my hands on it π
Worth an order from their website !
