Tea? Don’t mind if I do!

I have been loving my hot water dispenser thing!

Chocolate tea- yummy 🙂

We had to have a bit of a tidy up in the kitchen as it takes up quite a bit of space, but it is so worth it. Although I think it makes me sound impatient as I don’t want to wait for the kettle to boil! But with our kettle the minimum amount of water was quite a lot, and so it wasted electricity boiling a lot for one cup, plus then the water had to go down the sink. Anyway, I love it!

So, what have I been up to besides drinking my own weight in tea? Well, a lot of pottering and de-cluttering. I have been on a bit of a mission to clear things out- so far I have sorted out bags of clothes for charity (including an entire bag filled with bras- although I want to look in to sending these off somewhere as I am sure last time I did that there were charities that collected them), sorted out clothes drawers, spare room drawers (found 3 separate places that I kept batteries and candles!), sideboard drawers (got rid of about 10 old tea towels etc), and today I sorted out one of the kitchen drawers too. I love that feeling of tidying up, plus it is so nice when the drawers shut without stuff having to be shoved down!

On Wednesday in between tidying and sorting I popped up to the shops- bought some new jeans and a nice jumper (black with little silver stripes) in the Gap sale. Then it was the Sweatshop run in the evening- I was glad the rain had stopped by then! I am so glad I went- I managed to keep the speedy group in my sight- at the beginning of that route there is a massive hill so I dropped back a bit, but I caught up with them after a mile or so, and only lost them in the last mile (and they must have sped up a lot as my miles went 10.27, 9.10, 9.10, and then 8.27 for the last .22!)- I don’t think they had been there long when I got back 🙂 I love these runs- they are tough but I run much faster on them than I do on my own.

I had a delicious dinner after that- I saw a recipe on Oh She Glows for avocado pasta.

OK, it does not look like much, but it was lovely. And I cheated a little- all I used was an avocado, some lime juice (as I didn’t have lemon, and I love lime with avocado anyway), and some basil-infused olive oil. Yummy. Served with some wholegrain spaghetti and some veggies (and the rest of my post run nuun drink).

On Thursday I was having my hair cut (always saved for the holidays) and then meeting some friends for a Starbucks and a catch up later- another fab way to spend the day. Then I was off to pump in the evening- urgh I had forgotten how annoying one of the songs is.

This morning I went out for a run before breakfast. Just a 3 mile one to stretch out my legs really.

Before a yummy yummy breakfast- gingerbread porridge with apple, meridian mincemeat and a little blob of pb.

Then I did some more sorting out, popped to the shops before meeting some other friends at the Waffle House. I wish the holidays would never end!

Then home for some tea (of course), a clementine and one of those posh pb cups.

This weekend we need to take down the decorations, so I am making the most of having the lights on the tree, the candles on etc before it all goes away.

Finally, just a reminder that you can still join my marathon talk team (even if you are not training for a marathon- I’m not!)- the more the merrier 🙂 And those of you that have signed up, it starts on Monday!

Have a lovely weekend- anyone else love a good de-clutter?

    1. I love it- I am hoping to sort out all the little areas in the house (except the garage- too cold, and we did that in the summer!)

  1. Yes, decluttering can be very cathartic indeed 🙂

What did you think of the posh PB cups? I’ve never actually tried one (posh or common haha) but I’m sure they’d be right up my street…I think nut butter and dark chocolate are probably my two favourite foods anyway.

I didn’t have much luck with that pasta recipe, I have to say. Then again, I can’t use herb-infused oils so that is probably what gave the dish an extra punch of flavour.

I kept meaning to say good on you for running with a speedy group – I’ve been invited out with a small group from the gym several times but I never go because I know I will be the slowest and it reminds me too much of school to be hanging out half a mile behind everyone else! But it’s silly really because I know it would help me in the long run (ugh, terrible pun. My apologies).

    1. What? You are so speedy!
What gave me the confidence was that the person from the shop runs at the back (although a couple of times they have not been able to come for various reasons)- there was a time when another guy always ran at the back, even though he was fast, but he injured himself so only cycles at the moment. It depends on who turns up too, sometimes I am right at the back, but other times I am in the middle, and sometimes I have the people at front in sight!
The posh pb cups are nice- very rich- I only got dark chocolate ones and they are pretty strong tasting dark choc if that makes sense.
I think the basil is what helped the recipe- if I had some fresh basil I would have added it in but our plant died and I have not bought a new one yet. So maybe try that?

  2. I don’t love the process of decluttering, but I love the result when it’s done. Right now, having a fluffy monster in the flat means that we’re always one step behind. It doesn’t matter how often we tidy up the place. Ten seconds later there are dust bunnies everywhere and he’s tipped the rubbish bin over.

  3. Oh I love having a good sort out! I’m so sad the holidays are over, we got back to Dublin today, so we’ve been unpacking and taking the decorations down! Avocado + lime is one of my favourite combinations too!

  4. I love a good de clutter, living in a one bed flat we just can’t afford to have things hanging around that don’t serve a purpose, but with our recent redecoration we have so much more storage space which is awesome! I think that hot water dispenser is such a great idea – especially for tea addicts like us!

    1. Yes the water dispenser is great 🙂
We don’t have much space either, so it makes a huge difference when we sort a few things out.

  5. I recently cleared my wardrobe and chest of drawers out and filled 2 big binbags with clothing. I took it along to a recycling place that pays 60p a kilo and got over £21 for my bags. Very pleased 🙂

    1. I didn’t even know those places existed! Not bad for stuff that is sat around doing nothing except taking up space.

  6. I love the feeling of having finished de-cluttering, and the satisfaction like you say of being able to open drawers and find things! It sounds like the holidays have been great; I used to think I’d be bored if I didn’t work but now I know I could easily find enough to do 🙂
The hot water thing sounds fab, does it come out boiling?

    1. Yes it does come out boiling 🙂
One of my friends gets a bit bored in the holidays but I never do- I can potter for days!

  7. I love decluttering, though since new Year I’ve been moving furniture around a lot – so it looks more of a mess than ever! I’m really looking forward to getting rid of old clothes/books and making better use of the space in my flat.
